Marcus Bean
Marcus is a chef, author, and presenter, who learned to cook by taking charge of the kitchen in his Shropshire pub. He got straight in the kitchen and taught himself to cook from scratch and then went on to win Iron Chef UK on channel 4 beating a 2 Michelin starred chef.
Since then, Marcus has become a regular chef on ITV’s “This Morning”, creating quick and tasty recipes for numerous presenters and even cooked for the Duchess of York. Marcus has also become a popular host at the BBC Good Food shows around the country, alongside lots of other food shows and events, working with chefs and celebrities. He’s appeared on Good Food Channels “Market Kitchen” Channel 4’s “What’s Cooking” shows on Food Network & ITV’s children’s cookery show “MunchBox” & The Saturday Show.
After successfully owning a pub/restaurant for 9 years, Marcus and his wife Jenny purchased “Brompton Cookery School” in Shropshire, during this time Marcus taught over 25,000 people to cook. After 11 half years and the lease coming to an end the school closed in May 2024, Marcus still continues to teach privately across the country for clients.
Marcus has always specialised in using local and seasonal produce from Shropshire and surrounding areas, over the years he’s built up a great relationship with his suppliers which he showcased in the school, at demonstrations & private catering events.
Marcus works as a private chef for regular clients across the world, alongside working as a hospitality consultant, helping create and manage new and existing food and drinks businesses around the country.
Marcus is a keen Runner, completing London marathon 8 times. He’s also an advocate of helping and supporting local charities like The Shrewsbury Ark, a Shelter for the homeless & vulnerable, over the last 8 years he’s cooked a Christmas lunch for all the clients and volunteers at the Ark. Marcus is now a patron of the Shrewsbury Ark.
As a chef Marcus is always looking to reduce food waste and has worked alongside Local charities like the Shrewsbury Food Hub creating workshop, helping people reduce food waste and make the most of wasted ingredients.
