Farmhouse furniture has been treated to a raw, industrial makeover in Kate and Jessica’s Good Homes dining area scheme. The atmosphere here will be informal and relaxed, with modern family living at its core. The table – a generously sized wooden affair – is set casually with bleached linens and handmade crockery; leftover dinner- and serveware are placed inside a glass-fronted cabinet in ready-to-use stacks; and organic ceramics adorn every surface. Bathed in a faded trio of concrete, heather and verdigris hues, the room will include a contemporary fireplace flanked by roughly sawn logs, and a low-hanging utilitarian cluster of pendant lights will illuminate diners in a soft glow. Finally, the design crescendo will be underfoot; wooden floorboards seamlessly blend into a multi-hued tiled rug to frame the central dining zone.
