Quality is key when it comes to redesigning your home. The assurance of dependable manufacturing and blue-ribbon craftsmanship are fundamental whether the project is for cosmetic or functional reasons.

For those looking to enhance the overall design and safety of their property, the Ideal Home Show, sponsored by Zoopla is the perfect opportunity to meet the makers behind the UK’s leading balustrade and glass systems and experience first-hand the best of British-made quality.

Stand H420 will host a team of SHS Balustrade and Glass specialists who will be showcasing a full range of glass, aluminium and stainless steel balustrades, balconies, canopies and handrail systems.

Here are a few thoughts from the experts on what to look for when selecting your system.

What matters when shopping for a balustrade?

Marine Grade Steel

Sturdy systems must be made of high-quality materials. SHS stainless steel products are manufactured from ‘316’ marine grade steel ensuring longevity when used externally, particularly in coastal areas. Education about on how to provide proper ongoing maintenance is also of great benefit and readily available to SHS customers.

Durable Glass Options

The strength of the glass is also of great importance. There are only two real choices when it comes to glass: toughened or laminated.

Toughened glass withstands all weather and weight loads. It is heated to approx. 700°C during the manufacturing process, then rapidly cooled (“quenched”) to create an outer layer on the panel. This process makes it around 5x stronger than regular glass.

Laminated glass, on the other hand, is made from two regular glass panels separated by a resin layer. If the glass breaks for any reason, the resin keeps the panel intact – helping to keep it safe until repairs are made.

Personalised Style

Choosing a system with a style that suits your area and tastes is just as essential as choosing one that is well made. Whether you wish to enjoy unobstructed views or add stylish poolside privacy, there is a reliable and lasting solution for your property. SHS offers a variety of glass and metal finishes making this step of the process fun and easy.

Professional Guidance and Safety

Your balustrade system must comply with building regulations, which include minimum height restrictions and handrails to keep people safe. Navigating these important safety regulations is where working with a trusted company such as SHS can make all the difference.

SHS Balustrade and Glass will be exhibiting at the show (Stand H420) from 22 March to 7 April, with project managers, designers and customer assistants available to help you design your perfect balustrade solution. Plus, with 20% off on all orders made during the show and a chance to win a free balustrade or Juliet balcony up to the value of £2,500, it’s worth visiting Stand H420 for a free quote.
