It’s the big news in the interior world at the moment that Pantone’s Colour of the year 2019 is… Living Coral! Check out below, the team from soak.com's tips for incorporating this colour into your design!
As quite a shift from last year's Ultra Violet, Living Coral has been described by Pantone as - “An animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge.
Vibrant, yet mellow PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral embraces us with warmth and nourishment to provide comfort and buoyancy in our continually shifting environment.”
If you haven’t seen the colour, you’d think it has a lot to live up too – and it definitely exceeds those expectations. Pantone prides itself of searching far and wide across the world to gather inspiration when curating their Colour of the Year and this time around, it seems to have been drawn from a much needed dose of positivity and ‘our desire for playful expression’. Not only does the name represent the colour that we all know and love, it’s also representative of the wonders that the coral reefs possesses. This multi-dimensional meaning further reinforces how ‘coral reefs provide shelter to a diverse kaleidoscope of color.’
We’re absolutely loving the playful duality of our very own take on ‘Living Coral’. From the simple, yet effective, grid tiles to the cheeky colour palette, it allows ‘Living Coral’ to take centre stage without being overwhelming.
Even though Living Coral is on the brighter side, it’s warm enough to pair with bolder colours without being swallowed up. We’ve paired it with a tropical blue to complement the focus on our ecosystem – clever right? If you look closely, you can see that we’ve added Living Coral to the back of the shelves too – which just proves the different ways you can inject 2019’s colour of the year. Your bathroom design is completely down to you! If you want to incorporate it into your home, you can choose to go big and plaster it all over your walls, or you can invest in a few products that perfectly represents the playful and cheeky nature of this uplifting shade.
