Troops Day!

A 30 piece marching brass band signalled the opening of the show today and launched our charity appeal 'Ideal Homes for Heroes' in support of the Soldiers' Charity.  In keeping with the show's heritage, and harking back to a 'Homes Fit For Heroes' campaign that was run after the First World War at the show,  the Ideal Home Show today welcomed the armed forces to a special opening event followed by a street party in the Ideal Village.

Serving troops and ex-servicemen and women joined George Clarke, Monty Don, Suzi Perry and Linda Barker, as the Ideal Home Show presented the Soldiers' Charity with a cheque for £50,000, as a kick start the £100,000 targer which will be raised by fundraising at the show.  The organisers are also donating 50p from each ticket sold to the appeal.
