Ideal Home Show Launches Best-of-British Recipe Book

In celebration of the return to traditional home cooking, this year's Ideal Home Show in association with MyDish - is launching the ‘Best of British’ Collection recipe book.

Deborah Meaden, the Dragon’s Den business woman behind web-based recipe sharing website MyDish.co.uk, launched the competition at the ideal home show on Monday 22nd March.

‘The Best of British’ Collection will combine the UK’s best home cooked recipes and traditional family cooking secrets passed down through the ages.

The UK food revolution and increase in celebrity chefs and cooking programmes has seen a reintroduction of cooking as entertainment. As more people are cooking from scratch  not only to save money but also to try new foods, the foundation for home cooking will be passed on to generations to come.

The idea behind ‘The Best of British’ Collection is to give home cooks, mums, dads and families across the nation the chance to pass on their best recipes or adaptations on traditional British dishes, and encourage families to share their home cooking tips.

Visitors will be able to enter their recipe through the cards provided at the show, or by visiting www.mydish.co.uk/best-of-british.

Ideal Home Show Organisers commented: “We are a nation of unhealthy eaters, choosing ready meals over good old home cooking, increasingly creating a convenience food culture across the UK, resulting in rising issues of obesity and bad eating habits.

“We are supporting a return to family cooking and family dining as a whole. Cooking and dining together provides increased quality family time, encourages healthy eating habits, and teaches skills and self-confidence. Not only that but cooking at home is a creative and enjoyable way to spend your leisure time, save cash and eat healthy.” said Lee Newton, Director of Media 10, Ideal Home Show Organisers.

“Everyone has a family recipe or hint and tip from their mum or grandma; the one that reminds you of a childhood memory or the smell of baking when you get home from school. Now we want you to share them with us to create the ultimate ‘Best of British’ recipe collection.

Carol Savage MD of Mydish.co.uk commented: “What people love the most about MyDish is getting simple recipe inspiration from other home cooks and sharing their favourite recipes with their own network of friends and family - creating a growing recipe exchange.  We want to shout about all the great recipes we have in our collection and find other recipe favourites to share.
