Coventry Transport Museum hits the road in Century Street
The Ideal Home Show is thrilled to announce that Coventry Transport Museum is joining the centenary celebrations by providing a selection of historic cars and cycles for the Century Street exhibit.
These include a 1909 Edwardian open-topped Rover and a 1955 Standard Super Ten (a popular family car), a 1913 BSA motorcycle, a trade bicycle dating from the 1920s, a turn of the century child’s bicycle and a 1950s Rudge cycle for girls.
Coventry Transport Museum’s collection encompasses cars, motorcycles and bicycles, plus 25,000 models and around 1 million archive and ephemera items – a must for anyone interested in the history of transport, or simply wanting a fascinating, fun and nostalgic day out.
Gary Hall, Chief Executive of Coventry Transport Museum, says, “We’re delighted to be involved in the centenary year of the Ideal Home Show. Having our cars and bicycles on display will give more people the opportunity to find out about the Museum, one of the country’s heritage gems, based in the birthplace of the British car industry.”
Show Director Robin Beaman adds, “Century Street is one of the key attractions at this year’s show and these wonderful items from the Museum’s collection will really help capture the mood of the times. We are excited to be joining forces with them.”
Coventry Transport Museum displays the largest collection of British road transport in the world and is designated a collection of national importance. Admission is free, and the museum is open daily 10am-5pm. To visit the Museum website, please click here or call 024 7623 4270 or email by clicking here
