English Heritage has a stunning array of holiday cottages including Peverell’s Tower at Dover Castle which oozes character, perching on top of the White Cliffs of Dover. The Custodian’s Cottage sits in the beautiful grounds of the impressive Kirby Hall which will transport you back to the Elizabethan era. South Lodge at Battle Abbey in East Sussex has something of a Hansel and Gretel feel about it with partly leaded glass windows and a secluded garden. The setting is unbeatable; looking across the field where arguably the most famous and influential battle in British history was fought – the Battle of Hastings.
