Corus Panels and Profiles

  • Corus Panels and Profiles

As a responsible supplier to the construction industry, Corus Panels and Profiles has measured the lifecycle environmental impacts of Superdeck and Trimapanel. This has helped understand how we can reduce the overall impacts of our operations and products, from manufacture and fabrication, through to transport, use and finally end-of-life. We are working to reduce the environmental impacts and improve the sustainability of our products at every stage of the lifecycle including:

Responsible Sourcing of Materials

  • Using 100% recyclable steel manufactured in the UK, via a known supply chain.
  • Using ISO14001 accredited Corus steelmaking and product manufacturing sites – gains up to 1.5 points (Mat 2 – Tier 3) in the Code for Sustainable Homes.
  • A supply chain making good use of rail instead of lorry to transport steel – Corus has invested £3m in a new railhead at it’s Shotton works in Deeside, which saves a total of 1.7 million road miles per year.

Product Manufacture

  • Providing information on the lifecycle environmental impacts associated with our products.
  • Produced off-site using efficient manufacturing processes to tight tolerances, resulting in a product with fewer defects and less waste.
  • Working to reduce the environmental impact the insulation we use (already HCFC and CFC free).

Product Use

  • Reducing the waste generated at construction sites and recovering our packaging waste.
  • High levels of thermal insulation and air tightness that meet or surpass the latest building regulations.

End-of-Life

  • All steel elements are easily recycled without loss of quality, back into new steel products. The recycling rate for steel in construction in the UK is typically 85% or above.
  • The insulation and membrane (Superdeck) are also recyclable.
