As we’ve seen, the Eco House is a UK trail-blazer in sustainable modular building. Among the innovative products used in its creation is British Gypsum’s revolutionary new lining board, Glasroc Rigidur H. This can be custom-cut to size to create smooth, strong walls and ceilings that have a host of environmental credentials.
Made using 100% reclaimed paper and cardboard mixed with gypsum and additives, Rigidur is a heavy-duty, hard-wearing lining board designed to withstand the toughest of built environments. It’s also 100% recyclable.
It can be pre-cut, in this case in sizes ranging from 2.2m for external wall panels to 5.9m for single ceiling sections. Panels could be made without joints, and wastage from off-cuts was reduced. This also helped speed up the building of the house – manufactured offsite and assembled at Earls Court.
