In association with Pilkington Activ TM Self-Cleaning Glass

The Daily Mail Ideal Home Show has launched new products to the British public for 100 years and so at this special Centenary Show the first exhibit you’ll see is Innovation Nation in association with Pilkington Activ TM Self-Cleaning Glass. Spanning the past, present and future, it’s a three-part celebration of how much our lives have changed since the first Show in 1908.

The exhibit has been sponsored by Pilkington Activ TM Self-Cleaning Glass. This revolutionary glass has a special coating that uses UV and rainwater to keep itself clean, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. And, with the solar control properties of Pilkington Activ TM Neutral and Pilkington Activ TM Blue, it can also help to keep internal temperatures cool, making it the perfect choice for any conservatory. There are three competitions on display: The Top Iconic Product of the Century, The Innovation Nation Competition and the Concept Products Award, view all the finalists here.

The Innovation Nation Competition

In the weeks running up to the show, the hunt began to find the UK’s most ingenious inventor. The ideas were viewed by a panel of expert judges including TV’s Adam Hart-Davis, inventions enthusiast, who have decided a shortlist of ten finalists, all of which could be seen on the stand at this years show for you to vote on. Voting closed on March 27th and the winners were announced, winning the prize of £2,000 and the title ‘Home Invention of the Year 2008’.

Concept Products

Launching innovative products is an integral part of the Ideal Home Show’s history and this year the standards were exceptional. The competition is open to design students all over the UK and is now into its 8th year.
